Our Mission
Longfellow Nursery School was founded to promote the welfare of children by establishing, maintaining and conducting a non-profit cooperative pre-school program. This program is owned and administered by the parents of the students to provide instruction, guidance and training for children of pre-school age, and for the purpose of carrying out a parent education program, and to do all things incidental to such purposes.
Our History
Longfellow Nursery School is one of the oldest continuously operating preschools in Columbia. This year we are celebrating our 50th anniversary! Our facility at Longfellow Neighborhood Center has been our school’s home since the beginning. The cooperative preschool tradition is reflective of the culture and ideals of Columbia. The LNS community is proud to be a part of Columbia’s vision and heritage.
